Short answer

A managed application is open source software that Jevana runs for your organisation: your own environment on our hardware in the Netherlands, installed, updated, backed up and monitored by us. You get the freedom of open source without needing an administrator of your own. The software belongs to nobody, your data belongs to you, and you can always take it with you. The applications we offer this way are listed below.

What managed means

An environment of your own
Every client has a separate installation with its own database. You share nothing with another organisation.
On your own address
The application runs on a name inside your own domain, with a valid certificate.
Updates
We follow the releases and security notices of each project and apply them. Big version jumps are tested first.
Backup
Every day, with a copy at an external location. Your contact person asks us when something has to come back.
Logging in
With accounts of their own, or with the accounts your people already have. Two-factor authentication is on.
Leaving
It is open source. You get your data in the software's own format and can carry on elsewhere.

Three bundles to start with

Office

For an organisation that wants its files, passwords and paperwork in its own hands.

  • JevanaHub for files, calendar and working together
  • Vaultwarden as the team's password vault
  • Paperless-ngx as a searchable document archive
  • BookStack for the handbook and work instructions

Customer contact

For a team that answers customers and makes appointments.

  • Zammad for customer questions, as tickets
  • EspoCRM for relations, leads and quotes
  • Cal.com so people can book a slot themselves

Website and marketing

For anyone who wants to measure and mail without selling their visitors on.

  • Matomo for statistics on your own server
  • Listmonk for the newsletter
  • Ghost for a blog with members

Why not just take a subscription

For almost everything there is a cloud service with a fee per user per month. That works, until the fee goes up, the terms change or the service is bought by someone else. Your data then sits with a company you have no say over, often outside Europe.

Open source turns that round. Nobody can take the software away from you and your data is in a place you can point to. What remains is the work: installing, keeping up, backing up. That is the part we do.

We are honest about it. Not every open source package is as finished as the well-known alternative, and sometimes a subscription is the better choice. When that is so, we say it.

When people end up here

  • The per-user fee of a well-known service has gone up again
  • A client or regulator asks where the data is kept
  • The colleague who once installed it has left, and nobody dares to run the update
  • Something runs on a server under a desk, with no backup

Questions

Which open source applications do you manage?

The list on this page: from logging in and passwords to wiki, chat, video meetings, document archive, project management, CRM, tickets, newsletters, statistics and tools for IT teams. On top of that JevanaHub and JevanaFiles, built on Nextcloud, and Forgejo for development teams. If a package is missing, ask. If it is open source and we can keep it up responsibly, we will look at it.

Is open source software safe enough for a business?

Safety depends on the management, not on the licence. Open source that is updated every month is safer than paid software nobody looks after. The source code is public, so mistakes are seen and reported by many. Where it goes wrong is with installations that get no update for years. Keeping up is exactly what you buy from us.

Can we use several applications with one login?

Yes. We can connect the applications to one login service, so your people get in everywhere with one account and one round of two-factor authentication. That can be the account they already have in Microsoft 365, or a login service of your own based on authentik. When an employee leaves, you close access to everything in one place.

What if an open source project stops?

Then the software keeps working, because there is no licence that runs out. You only stop getting updates, and over time that is a risk. We follow the projects we manage and tell you when development stalls. There is usually a successor or a fork your data can move to. You are never left without from one day to the next.

What does a managed application cost?

That depends on the application, the number of users and how much storage and computing power it needs. You pay for the environment and the management, not for a licence per user. A wiki for ten people asks for something different from a document archive with years of scans. You get a proposal first, and if you take several applications we look at them as a whole.

Tell us what you run.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
