WordPress hosting where the updates are not on you.

WordPress runs everywhere. Keeping it up to date is where it goes wrong, and we take that over.

Short answer

Managed WordPress hosting means the host also maintains WordPress itself: updates to the core, themes and plugins, security, caching and backups. Jevana hosts WordPress and WooCommerce on its own hardware in the Netherlands and tests updates on a copy of your site first. You write and publish. The technology underneath stays current without you having to look at it.

A hacked WordPress site usually starts with an old plugin

WordPress itself is safe, as long as it is updated. The risk sits in the plugins: a form, a slider, a cookie notice from a maker who has not looked at it for two years.

That is why we go through your plugins at the start. What is no longer maintained, we swap for something that is. What nobody uses, comes off. A site with eight plugins is easier to keep safe than one with forty.

What WooCommerce adds

During checkout

  • The cart and checkout kept out of the cache
  • Payment notifications from the payment provider that always arrive
  • A test order after every update

At busy moments

  • Your own computing power instead of a shared server
  • The database cleared of old sessions and logs
  • Monitoring of the checkout, not just the homepage

Questions

What is managed WordPress hosting?

With managed WordPress hosting, the host looks after WordPress itself as well as the server. That covers updating WordPress, themes and plugins, setting up caching, making backups and fixing problems after an update. With ordinary hosting you only get the space, and everything else is down to you.

Who does the WordPress and plugin updates?

We do. Security updates go in as soon as they appear. Larger updates we try on a copy of your site first, because a new version of one plugin sometimes breaks another. If the copy holds up, the live site follows. If it fails, you notice nothing and we work out where they clash.

Is WordPress hosting fast enough for an online shop?

Yes, if the server is set up for it. A WooCommerce shop asks more than an ordinary site, because the cart and checkout are built separately for every visitor. So a shop gets its own computing power and a cache that knows which pages to leave alone. With thousands of products or a lot of custom work, we look at whether Magento fits better.

Can I still install plugins myself?

Yes, it stays your site. We only ask you to tell us about plugins that reach deep, such as caching, security or a page builder, because those can clash with what is already set up on the server. For the rest you are free. If you install something that breaks the site, we restore that morning's backup.

Tell us what you run.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
