An IT partner who knows you by name.
No account manager, no ticket number. Two people who know what runs at your organisation.
Short answer
An IT partner is the fixed party that sets up and manages an organisation's IT and thinks along with it, instead of a supplier selling separate products. Jevana Systems is that kind of IT service provider for SMEs. There are two of us, Kevin Tieman and Mans Ziesel, and we do workplace, network, hosting and websites ourselves. The person you speak to also does the work.
Supplier or partner: the difference is who calls
You hear from a supplier when your licence runs out. A partner calls when he sees your backup has not run for three days, or that you pay for twelve accounts while nine people work for you.
That takes someone who knows your environment. At a large IT company you get someone different with every report. With us there are two, and they laid your network themselves.
What to look at when choosing
Who does the work
- Are you talking to the administrator or to a salesperson
- Does the same person stay your point of contact
- What happens when that person is ill
What is on paper
- What the monthly fee covers and what it does not
- When someone can be reached
- How you leave, and what you take with you
Whose it is
- Is it on record that licences and domain names are yours
- Do you get the documentation for your own environment
- Can you take your data with you in a usable format
What is being sold
- Do you get advice, or the package with the highest margin
- Can something that works well stay where it is
- Is open source an option, or only what the partner resells

When we are not the right partner
If you have offices on four continents and need someone answering in three languages at every hour of the day, you have come to the wrong address. The same goes if you are after the lowest price per workstation.
We suit organisations that want it to work, that prefer a fixed amount to a surprise, and that would rather explain once and properly what is going on than tell it again every time.
How switching worksQuestions
What should you look at when choosing an IT partner?
Look at three things: who does the work, what is on paper and whose everything is. Ask whether you talk to the administrator, what exactly the monthly fee covers, and whether it is on record that licences, domain names and documentation belong to your organisation, even when the partner manages them for you. A partner that is clear about how you leave is usually clear about the rest.
Do you work with fixed contact people?
Yes, and there are exactly two. Jevana is Kevin Tieman and Mans Ziesel. One of them is your first point of contact, the other also knows your environment and takes over when the first is away. There is no account manager and no call centre. Whoever you email or phone is the same person who set up your firewall.
How big are the organisations you work for?
We focus on SMEs: from an office with a handful of people to a company with a few dozen workstations and several branches. We also work for web agencies that want to outsource their clients' hosting. For a one-person business full management is often too much; there we help with a good basis and a backup.
Do we have to buy everything from you?
No. You take what you need. If you have a web builder you are happy with, they stay. If your accounting package runs well with another supplier, we leave it alone. We also say so when something fits another party better. The only thing we ask is that it is clear who is responsible for what.
Aren't you too small when something really goes wrong?
That is a fair question. With two people we cannot do everything at once, so we do not take on more than we can deliver. What we do have: both of us know every environment, everything is documented, and the status of our own services is public on a page outside our network. Cover outside office hours is a separate agreement.
