All services at a glance

A Magento developer who also knows what the server looks like.

New features, changes and bug fixes, built with the production environment in mind.

Short answer

Magento development at Jevana means further development of an existing Magento 2 shop: new features, changes to checkout or catalogue, API work and fixing faults. We work in your Git repository, test on a staging environment and go live only after your approval. Small jobs get a fixed price, ongoing work an agreed number of hours per month.

Code that survives an upgrade

The most expensive Magento shops are not the biggest ones, but the shops where someone has been changing the Magento core. Every update there is a project, so it keeps being put off.

We build changes as modules, using the tools Magento provides for that. The core stays untouched. A developer who comes after us finds the work where they expect it.

Custom modules

What we get asked for

New features

  • An extra step or field in the checkout
  • Product configuration the standard does not offer
  • A customer portal with orders, invoices and returns

Existing code

  • A third-party module that clashes with another
  • Faults that only occur on production
  • Making the code of a departed developer understandable

API and data

  • REST and GraphQL endpoints for an app or another system
  • Import and export of products, prices and stock
  • Queues for work that must not hold up the visitor

How we work

Repository
Yours. If you do not have one, we set one up, on Forgejo or wherever you want it.
Testing
Every change goes to staging first, with a copy of the real data.
Going live
After your approval, at a time with few visitors, with the previous version kept ready.
With your own team
Through pull requests, so your own developers read along. Or independently, with a report afterwards.

Questions

Can I buy individual hours of Magento development?

Yes. A clearly defined job, such as an extra field in the checkout, gets a fixed price up front. If the scope cannot be predicted, for example with a fault of unknown cause, we work by the hour with an agreed limit. For shops that are developed continuously, we agree a set number of hours per month.

Do you work in our own repository?

Yes, always. The code stays in the repository of the shop owner, whether that is on GitHub, GitLab or your own Forgejo. We work in separate branches and deliver changes as a pull request. If there is no repository yet and people edit directly on the server, setting one up is our first step.

How do you test a change to Magento?

On a staging environment that matches production: the same versions, the same modules and a recent copy of the database with anonymised customer data. There we go through the change and place test orders. For parts that change often, such as the checkout, we write automated tests that run again after every later change.

Can you work on a shop that another agency built?

Yes. We start by reading what is there: which modules, which changes, how it is deployed. That gives a short list of what is safe to change and what needs attention first. Then we pick up the job. The original agency does not need to be involved.

Do you also build on the Magento API?

Yes. Magento has a REST API and a GraphQL API for almost everything the shop can do. We build our own endpoints when the standard ones fall short, for example for an app, an in-store kiosk or a supplier who delivers stock. We arrange access per system with separate keys, so you can revoke one without touching the rest.

Tell us what you run.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
