An online shop that is still right after the order.

The shop window is the easy part. The work is in what happens after someone clicks pay.

Short answer

Building an online shop covers more than the design: the catalogue, payment, shipping, VAT, stock and the link to your bookkeeping all have to agree. Jevana builds shops in WooCommerce for smaller ranges and in Magento for large or business-focused ones, links them to your payment provider, carrier and bookkeeping, and hosts them on its own hardware.

Most starting shops belong in WooCommerce. Moving to Magento can happen later, with products, customers and orders coming along.

What happens after the click on pay

  1. 01

    Payment

The customer pays at the payment provider. The shop hears whether it worked, even if the window is closed.

  2. 02

    Confirmation

An email that arrives and is correct, with the invoice where that applies.

  3. 03

    Stock

The product is deducted. If it was the last one, it shows as sold out at once.

  4. 04

    Shipping

A label from your carrier, and tracking for the customer.

  5. 05

    Booking

The order is in your bookkeeping, without anyone retyping it.

When this comes up

  • You sell through a marketplace and want a channel of your own next to it
  • The current shop was built by someone who can no longer be reached
  • Every order is entered into the bookkeeping by hand
  • The shop works, but a change takes weeks

Questions

WooCommerce or Magento: which fits my online shop?

WooCommerce fits shops with a manageable range that sell mainly to consumers. It is an extension of WordPress, so easy to manage and light to host. Magento fits large catalogues, business customers with their own prices and several shops from one back office. If you are unsure, start with WooCommerce: moving up is possible, while the other way round you carry needless upkeep.

Which payment methods can I offer?

Through a payment provider you offer iDEAL, credit card, Bancontact, PayPal and pay later. You sign the contract with the provider yourself; we link it and test every method with a real payment. For the Netherlands, iDEAL is essential. If you sell to businesses, paying on invoice comes in too, only for customers you have approved for it.

Can the online shop be linked to my bookkeeping?

Yes. Orders, customers and payments go to your accounting package automatically, so nothing is retyped. Links exist for the common packages; where they fall short, we build one. Beforehand we settle which data goes where and what happens if the bookkeeping is briefly unreachable, so no order falls between two stools.

Who owns the online shop when it is finished?

You do. The code, the design, the products and the customer data are your property, and you get access to everything. Third-party plugins and modules keep their own licences. If you later want to place the shop with someone else, we hand it over. We work with open source systems precisely so that this is possible.

Can you take over an existing online shop?

Yes. We start with an inventory: which system, which extensions, how old and what integrations hang off it. From that it follows whether the shop is healthy and what needs attention first. Usually we move it to our hosting, bring everything up to date and set up a test environment. The previous builder only has to hand over the access.
