Your code stays in the Netherlands

Forgejo is a fork of Gitea: an open source alternative to GitHub and GitLab, with no licence per user. We host Forgejo on our own hardware, so your code stays in the Netherlands. We set up the environment, migrate your existing repositories and keep the platform running after that.

What you get

Code

Repositories, branches and pull requests, with code review built in.

  • Git repositories for all your projects
  • Branches and pull requests
  • Code review on every pull request before you merge

Working together

Issues, project boards and milestones next to your code, plus a wiki for documentation.

  • Issues to track work and bugs
  • Project boards to see progress at a glance
  • Milestones for releases and deadlines
  • A wiki for documentation next to the code

CI/CD with Forgejo Actions

Workflows set up in a way that resembles GitHub Actions. Existing pipelines move over with some changes, not by copy and paste.

  • Workflows that build, test and deploy on every push
  • A setup that resembles GitHub Actions
  • Runners managed by us, with capacity matched to your team
  • You can connect your own runners too, for special hardware or builds inside your own network

Package and container registry

Docker images and packages next to your code, in the same environment.

  • Docker images
  • npm, PyPI, Maven and NuGet
  • One place for code and the packages that go with it

Mirroring and access

Mirror repositories from or to GitHub or GitLab, with access control per organisation or team.

  • Mirroring from and to GitHub or GitLab
  • Organisations and teams for access control
  • Two-factor authentication

Setup and management

We set Forgejo up for you and keep it running after that.

  • Setting up your environment
  • Migration from GitHub or GitLab, including issues and pull requests where the import supports it
  • Updates
  • Backups

When you think of this

  • You are looking for an alternative to GitHub or GitLab, without a licence per user
  • You want your code in the Netherlands, not on an American platform
  • Your current pipeline runs on GitHub Actions and needs a new home

Who it is for

For development teams and agencies who want their code and CI/CD in the Netherlands, on hardware we manage. You drop the licence per user without giving up features. You can connect your own runners too, for specific hardware or for builds inside your own network.

Why on our hardware

Your repositories live in the Netherlands, on hardware we manage ourselves. Forgejo is open source: you can always take your code and configuration to another provider.

Moving from GitHub or GitLab

We migrate your existing repositories to Forgejo, including issues and pull requests where the import supports it. We convert your pipelines: Forgejo Actions resembles GitHub Actions, but the two are not fully interchangeable.

Questions

What is Forgejo?

Forgejo is an open source platform for Git hosting and CI/CD, an alternative to GitHub and GitLab. It is a fork of Gitea, with no licence per user. We host Forgejo on our own hardware and set up the environment for you, including the migration of your existing repositories.

Can you move our repositories over from GitHub or GitLab?

Yes. We migrate your repositories to Forgejo, including issues and pull requests where the import supports it. We convert existing pipelines on GitHub Actions, because Forgejo Actions resembles it but is not fully interchangeable. Before we start, we agree with you exactly what moves over.

Do the Forgejo CI/CD runners run on your hardware?

By default they do: we manage the runners, with capacity matched to your team. You can also connect your own runners, for special hardware or for builds that have to run inside your own network. Both can exist side by side in the same Forgejo environment.

Does Forgejo support package and container registries?

Yes. Next to your code you can store Docker images and packages such as npm, PyPI, Maven and NuGet. Everything sits in the same environment as your repositories, on our own hardware. You do not need to set up a separate registry service with another provider.

Is Forgejo suitable for a whole team, with access per role?

Yes. You set up organisations and teams, and give each team access to the right repositories. Two-factor authentication is available for extra protection on accounts. That way you keep track of who can reach which code and which pipelines, also as your team grows.

What happens to our data if we ever want to move to another provider?

Forgejo is open source, so there is no closed system to get stuck in. You can always take your repositories, issues and configuration to another host or to your own environment. Being able to leave is exactly why people stay.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
