LimeSurvey: questionnaires whose answers stay with you.
Research, customer satisfaction or a staff survey, with the answers on a server of your own. We install and maintain it, you ask the questions.
Short answer
LimeSurvey is software for surveys and questionnaires, with many question types, conditions, quotas, several languages and anonymous answers. You export results to a spreadsheet or statistics program. It is an alternative to SurveyMonkey, Typeform and Google Forms. Jevana hosts LimeSurvey as an instance of its own, so the answers stay on a server you know.
What LimeSurvey can do
Asking questions
- Many kinds of question, from multiple choice to a scale or an open box
- Conditions: a question appears only if an earlier answer calls for it
Dividing
- Quotas, so that one group does not grow too large
- Several languages in the same survey
Protecting
- Anonymous answers
- Storage in an environment of your own, not with a survey service
Results
- Statistics in the system itself
- Export to a spreadsheet or statistics program
When answers are personal data
- A staff satisfaction survey, where people want to be honest about their manager
- A survey among clients or pupils, whose answers are sensitive
- Research for a thesis or project, where an ethics committee wants to know where the data sits
- Customer satisfaction, where you would rather not use a form from an American provider
Anonymous is a choice in the design
A survey is not anonymous just because no name is attached. In a small group, answers can often be traced anyway. LimeSurvey can store answers anonymously, but whether the design is truly anonymous depends on the questions and the size of the group.
That is work for whoever designs the survey. We make sure the technical side is right: an environment of your own, in the Netherlands, where the answers do not end up with a third party.

Questions
Can LimeSurvey replace SurveyMonkey, Typeform or Google Forms?
For surveys and questionnaires it can. LimeSurvey has many question types, conditions, quotas, several languages and anonymous answers, and you export the results. It is less of a polished form than Typeform: it is built for research where the answers are what matters. If you mainly want a good-looking form, we say so.
Are the answers in LimeSurvey really anonymous?
LimeSurvey can store answers anonymously. Whether your survey is truly anonymous that way depends on the questions and the size of the group: with ten people you can often trace answers, even without a name. The person who sets up the survey looks at that. We make sure the server is yours and sits in the Netherlands.
Where are the survey answers in LimeSurvey kept?
On a LimeSurvey instance of its own that runs on Jevana hardware in the Netherlands. The answers are therefore not with an American survey service. That makes it easier to show where personal data is held. You have a daily backup and you can always export the data.
Can a LimeSurvey survey run in more than one language?
Yes. The same survey can run in several languages, with the participant choosing theirs. That helps for a staff survey at a company with several nationalities, or for research with international participants. You write the translations of the questions yourself; LimeSurvey makes sure they go with the right question.
What does Jevana do for LimeSurvey and what do I do myself?
We install LimeSurvey on your domain, keep it updated and monitored, and make a daily backup with a copy elsewhere. Logging in for your researchers can use existing accounts. Designing and launching the survey is your work. What it costs, you hear in a proposal beforehand.
