A website for a freelancer: five pages are enough.
You do not need a platform. You need a place where a client sees that you exist and what you can do.
Short answer
A website for a freelancer does not need to do much: show who you are, what you do, for whom, and how someone reaches you. Jevana builds a small, fast site of a handful of pages for this, findable on your name and trade, with a form that arrives. You get one price for the build up front. Hosting runs per month after that.
What has to be on it
- What you do
- In your client's words, not those of your trade. At the top, without scrolling.
- For whom
- Whoever recognises themselves reads on. Whoever does not, clicks away, and that is fine.
- Proof
- A few examples of work, or a short description of how you work.
- Who you are
- A photo and a few sentences. People hire a person.
- Contact
- An email address on your own domain, a form and your Chamber of Commerce number.
Why not a website builder you drag around yourself
For many freelancers, a website builder where you click and drag yourself is a perfectly good start. It costs little and you are online in an evening. If that works for you, you do not need us.
You come to us when the evening has turned into a month, when the site turns out to be slow on a phone, or when a search for your own name puts you below your LinkedIn profile. Then we build something light, something correct, and something you no longer have to fiddle with.
When it is time
- A client looks you up and finds only a profile on a platform
- You email quotes from a free address
- The site you once made yourself has been wrong for two years
Questions
What does a freelancer need on a website at minimum?
At minimum it says what you do, for whom, an example or way of working, who you are and how to get in touch. By law your business name, Chamber of Commerce number and VAT number must be shown. That fits on a handful of pages. More pages do not make a site better; a clear first paragraph does.
Can I change the texts myself?
That works in two ways. If little changes, we build the site without a management system and you email us a change; that is the fastest and needs no maintenance. If you write something new regularly, you get an admin in which you update texts and photos yourself. We choose based on how often you change something.
Do I also get an email address on my own domain?
Yes, if you want one. An address on your own domain name looks more professional than a free address and stays yours if you change provider. We set up the mailbox, with the settings that keep your quotes out of the spam folder, and move your old mail across. The old address can keep forwarding.
What do I pay after delivery?
After the build you pay monthly for the hosting, with the certificate and backup included, and yearly for your domain name. A maintenance contract is not needed for a small site without a management system: there is little to update. If you have an admin, the updates are part of the hosting.
