Microsoft 365 for business, set up by the people who manage it.
You buy the licence in five minutes. Making it secure and keeping it that way is the work.
Short answer
Microsoft 365 is Microsoft's business package with email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and the Office programs. For SMEs there are three variants: Business Basic, Standard and Premium. Jevana picks the licences with you, sets up the environment, locks down the security, arranges a backup outside Microsoft and then manages it for a fixed monthly fee. The package used to be called Office 365.
By default it stands open
A new Microsoft 365 environment works straight away. Mail comes in, files can be shared. What is not on by default: two-step verification for everyone, a limit on who outside the organisation can look in, and a copy of your data somewhere else.
These are settings, not extra products. They only need someone who knows where they are and who comes back when Microsoft moves them again. That is what management means here.
What Microsoft does and what we do
| Subject | Microsoft | Jevana |
|---|---|---|
| Keeping the service running | Yes | No, that is up to Microsoft |
| Accounts and licences | Provides the buttons | Creating, assigning, clearing |
| Security | Provides the options | Switching on, enforcing, checking |
| Recovering deleted data | Limited time, via the recycle bin | A separate backup with its own retention period |
| Laptops and phones | Provides Intune, in Premium | Setting up and maintaining |
| A person during an outage | Via a form | One of the two of us |
When this comes up
- A colleague once clicked Microsoft 365 together and nobody has looked at the settings since
- There is an invoice for licences of people who left a year ago
- Someone signed in from a country where you have no clients
- A mailbox was deleted by mistake and turns out not to be recoverable

Questions
What is the difference between Microsoft 365 and Office 365?
It is the same package under a new name. Microsoft renamed Office 365 for business to Microsoft 365 in 2020. The programs stayed: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive. The name Office 365 still exists for a few subscriptions aimed at large organisations. In practice people use both names interchangeably and mean the same thing.
Can we arrange the licences through Jevana?
Yes. Together we decide which licence each employee needs, and we arrange the purchase and assignment. The licences can run in your organisation's name or through us, whichever you prefer. The environment itself always stays yours. If you already have a running subscription, we take it over as it is and first clear out what nobody uses.
Is our data in Microsoft 365 kept in Europe?
For organisations in the European Union, Microsoft stores the core data of Microsoft 365 in European data centres. The company itself is American and so also falls under American law. For most organisations that is no objection. If you want certain files on a server with no American owner, that part can go in JevanaHub.
Is Microsoft 365 suitable for a small business or freelancer?
Yes. The Business variants are meant for organisations of up to three hundred users and start at one. For one person Business Basic or Standard is usually enough: mail on your own domain, storage and the Office programs. Monthly management is then often too much; a one-off set-up with the security switched on is enough.
Do we have to move to Microsoft 365, or are there other options?
There are other options. Microsoft 365 suits organisations that lean heavily on Excel, Outlook and Teams or use software that connects to it. Those who mostly share files and want their data in the Netherlands can manage with JevanaHub. We advise what fits, even when that means you keep what you have.
