Short answer

DocuSeal is open source software for signing documents digitally. You turn a PDF into a form with fields, send it to one or more signers and get it back signed, with a log of who signed and when. It replaces DocuSign and Adobe Sign. Jevana installs a DocuSeal of its own for your organisation, keeps it updated, makes backups and monitors the server.

When this comes to mind

  • A quote has to come back signed and has been sitting in someone's inbox for a week
  • You print a contract only to have it signed, then scan it back in
  • Your clients' signed documents sit with a signing service in another country
  • A new employee has to sign three papers on the first day

How a document goes out and comes back

  1. 01

    Template

You upload a PDF and place fields on it: a signature, a date, a text box, a tick box.

  2. 02

    Sending

You pick who has to sign, and in what order if that matters. Everyone gets a link by email.

  3. 03

    Signing

The signer opens the link in the browser, fills in the fields and adds a signature. No account is needed.

  4. 04

    Back to you

The signed document returns to you with a log: who signed, when, and from which device.

Who logs in
Only the people who make templates. That can use the accounts your organisation already has.
If you stop
You get the templates and the signed documents.
Licence
AGPL 3.0. Part of the feature set is only in the paid Pro version. The name DocuSeal is a trademark of its owner. Jevana is not affiliated with the project.

Questions

Is a signature in DocuSeal legally valid?

For ordinary contracts, quotes and confirmations it often is. DocuSeal produces electronic signatures, not qualified ones. For some documents the law requires a stronger form. Whether yours is one of them is for a lawyer to decide, not the software and not us. The log with the time and details of the signer helps if there is a dispute later.

Can DocuSeal replace DocuSign or Adobe Sign?

For everyday work it can: turn a PDF into a form, send it to one or more signers and get it back signed. Some features exist only in the paid Pro version of DocuSeal. We go through which ones you need before you start. If you need qualified signatures, this is the wrong tool, and we will tell you so.

Where are the documents I have signed with DocuSeal kept?

On a DocuSeal instance of its own, running on Jevana hardware in a data centre in Hengelo. The signed PDFs and the log are not held by a signing service abroad. A backup is made every day, with a copy kept elsewhere. If you want to leave, you take the documents and templates with you.

Do signers need a DocuSeal account?

No. A signer receives a link, opens it in the browser, fills in the fields and adds a signature. Nothing has to be installed. Only the people who make templates and send documents log in. That login can use the accounts your organisation already has (single sign-on), if you ask us to set it up.

What does Jevana handle for DocuSeal and what does my team do?

We set DocuSeal up at an address that belongs to your company and make sure it keeps working: updates, backups, monitoring. Your team does the actual work, which is making templates and sending documents. On the cost you get a proposal first, so you know where you stand.

Tell us what you run.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
