IT for organisations in Nijverdal.

For production and logistics firms at 't Lochter, where downtime is counted by the hour.

When the scanner fails, the line stops

At 't Lochter IT is not an office matter. Handheld scanners, label printers and screens at the line hang on the same network as the administration. If the wifi in the hall drops, people stand waiting. We set the network up so production has a part of its own, and we watch that it keeps working.

What we do in Nijverdal

Network and security

Wifi in the hall that holds on to scanners while they move, measured between the racking. Production and office on separate networks.

Hosting and cloud

The server that runs the production or warehouse system, monitored and backed up. On site or on our hardware.

Workplace and collaboration

Shared workstations in the hall where every shift logs in with its own account, and laptops for the office.

Magento

For those who also sell online: an online shop linked to stock and orders.

't Lochter, on the N35.

Nijverdal belongs to the municipality of Hellendoorn. The business park 't Lochter lies along the N35 and is one of the larger ones in Twente. We come from Hengelo; our servers are there too. What has to be done in the hall, we do in the hall.

Questions

Why does the wifi in our Nijverdal hall keep dropping at the scanners?

Usually because the access points were placed for coverage and not for movement. A scanner driving through the hall has to hop from one access point to the next, and racking full of goods dampens the signal. If that is not tuned well, it loses the connection. We measure with full racking and set the handover accordingly.

Can shifts work on one computer with their own accounts?

Yes. We set up a shared workstation in the hall so everyone logs in with their own account, fast, for example with a badge or a PIN. Each employee sees only what belongs to their role, and it can be traced afterwards who did what. A shared password on a note is no longer needed.

What if the system our production runs on goes down?

Then every hour counts. That is why we monitor the server and the alert comes to us, not to the operator. There is a backup that has been tested, and beforehand it is agreed how fast you want to be back and what that takes. For firms that run in shifts, cover outside office hours is possible as a separate agreement.

Do you also work for offices in the centre of Nijverdal?

Yes. Not every business in Nijverdal has a hall. For offices, practices and shops we do ordinary management: workstations, mail, network and backups. It is a smaller set-up than for a manufacturer, with a monthly amount to match and no work in a hall.

An introduction costs nothing. You talk straight away to one of the two people who will actually do the work.
